And Then There Was One
Errie Ball, Pro Emeritus and active teaching professional at Willoughby Golf Club, is the only living golfer from the first Masters held in 1934. This quiet man from Wales played with Bobby and Walter and Gene, striking balls with hickory shafted clubs, spoons and mashies. Today at age 98 you’ll find Errie on the Willoughby practice range every day hitting balls with modern clubs or giving advice only someone of his stature could impart. If you come by, have a chat with Errie and you’ll be charmed. Have a lesson and you’ll be amazed.
For a closer look at Errie Ball, you can see recent coverage in Golf Digest, Golf World, or the special interview show at last year’s Masters by CBS.
