Arthur Hills designed the Willoughby course with four sets of tees to make sure both men and women golfers are suitably challenged, but never faced with the sense of either hopelessness or monotony you find in less imaginative Florida layouts. From the championship tees used in US Open qualifiers, the course plays to 6,731 yards between towering trees and natural wetlands, over unfriendly lakes and around more than 55 all too inviting bunkers. In keeping with the Arthur Hills tradition, Willoughby is carved out of the natural surroundings and makes abundant use of all available flora, hillocks and swales to create the most picturesque golf course in the area.
