Maybe not, but there are 397 close by. Martin Memorial, which is rated one of the top 100 hospitals in the country, has two facilities right here in Stuart. Included in this complex is the brand new Frances Langford Heart Center as well as the Weissman Cancer Center. The hospital is staffed with specialists of every kind from neurosurgeons, orthopedists and gynecologists to gastroenterologists, oncologists and vascular surgeons. In addition to Martin Memorial, there are six more full service hospitals within forty-five minutes of Stuart. A branch of the prestigious Cleveland Clinic is located about an hour away in Fort Lauderdale and both Johns Hopkins and Yale are exploring opening patient centers in Palm Beach. Also, with the imminent arrival of the Scripps Research Center in Jupiter and the Torrey Pines Institute in Port St. Lucie, other major medical universities are considering opening facilities to add even more medical care for the people of south Florida. And, for eye and oral care there are a dozen ophthalmologists and more than forty dentists, oral surgeons and periodontists in Martin County.
