What Would T.S. Eliot Think?

Conveniently located only forty minutes from West Palm Beach and just twenty minutes from Jupiter and Fort Pierce, residents of Martin County have a variety of cultural offerings to choose from. Stuart, itself, features the Lyric Theater where well-known actors and musicians perform over 300 days a year. Recent and coming attractions include The Lettermen, the Beach Boys, Judy Collins, Boyz ll Men and Joshua Bell. On nearby Hutchinson Island stands the Elliott Museum which features local artists and a unique collection of antique cars. And, nearby is the House of Refuge Marine Museum. Built in 1875, it is the last remaining example of ten such stations built for ship-wrecked mariners. The Martin County Library boasts six branches and offers books, CD’s, DVD’s and special programs like “Bookmania,” a full day event in January featuring best selling authors from around the world such as James Patterson, Stuart Woods and Kathy Reichs. And, for movie buffs, there are more than sixty screens within thirty minutes.

The Kravis Center in Palm Beach offers a full range of cultural attractions from big Broadway musicals to symphony to concerts to opera. Recently Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera have been featured along with the musicals “South Pacific” and “Jersey Boys” and symphony orchestras from Chicago, Pittsburgh and Hamburg. Not far from the Kravis Center is the Norton Museum that attracts major exhibits including recent ones for French Impressionists and Georgia O’Keefe.

Just south of Stuart is the recently renovated Maltz Theater in Jupiter that features musicals like Man of La Mancha and My Fair Lady and performers such as Barbara Cook. And, in Fort Pierce, the newly renovated Sunrise Theater is attracting noted vocalists including Dionne Warwick.

Culture in many forms, another reason to choose Willoughby.
